Prayer for Unsaved Husband |Powerful Prayer Points

This year I asked for prayer requests from the brothers and sisters on my mailing list. I could not help but notice that a disproportionate number of them asked me to pray for their unsaved husbands. So I decided to write this post titled Prayer for unsaved husband. In it, I hope to share the prayer points I have been praying for these husbands so that if you need to pray for your husband, you can do the same.

Why are you praying for your unsaved husband?

I am sure you know that your prayers can make a big difference in your husband’s life. And you may also know that it would make a big difference in your life and the lives of your children as well.

This is exactly where you can make a mistake. Are you praying for your husband so that you can have an easier life or are you praying for your husband because you know that God is interested in him?

If you are praying a selfish prayer, it may take longer because God is more interested in transforming your heart so that you can be at peace and live in joy regardless of how your husband behaves.

I know that this may be hard to swallow, but it is the truth. Whenever we go to God in prayers for a selfish or self-centered request, we don’t get what we ask for. (James 4:3).

So I suggest that you start your intercession for your husband with a search in your heart to discover the true motive for your prayers. You can start with this prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father, I know you love my husband [name], please search my heart and help me to pray for him because you love him, because I love him and not just because it would be good for me.

If you find that you have been praying for him mostly because you want to have an easier life, then repent. Ask God to help you and begin to pray for him because you know that God wants him to surrender. You can use a prayer like this.

Dear Heavenly Father, I am sorry that I have been thinking of myself each time I have been praying for [name of your husband]. It’s not about me. It is about your will for [your husbands name]. From now on, I receive the grace to pray for [your husbands name] because you love him and I love him and you have a plan for his life.

Prayer of Faith for your unsaved husband

Are your sure that your husband would be saved and confess our Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and saviour?

You need to be sure of this so that you can receive your husband into the Kingdom of God.

I have discovered that when I pray based on an assurance from God, I always get what I pray for. And this is what our Lord Jesus teaches in Mark 11:22-24.

It is important that you are completely sure that our Heavenly Father has promised you what you are asking for. This will enable you to pray with great boldness and extraordinary confidence.

This confidence and assurance is usually based on a scripture that the Holy Spirit impresses on your heart as you come before the Lord in prayers or as you consider the situation. An example of such scripture is 1 Tim 2:4. It gives us confidence that God our father wants everyone to be saved.

There are more scriptures that the Lord may place on your heart. Use this scripture and pray with great confidence and boldness for the salvation of your husband. The question is no longer if he will be saved. What you are waiting to see is how and when.

This is the prayer of faith. It is prayer that leads to thanksgiving. You pray until you are sure and you spend time giving thanks for the salvation of your husband.

I got a very good understanding of the prayer of faith from a book on prevailing prayers by Charles Finney. You can read an online version of a chapter in the book here.

Prayer Points for your unsaved husband

Now that we have covered the state of mind that you must be in to pray, you are now ready to pray for your husband.

I suggest that you let the Holy Spirit lead you to pray for him. The truth is you really do not know exactly how to pray for him. But the Holy Spirit in you is always willing to help you pray (Rom 8:26).

Here are a few prayer points you can start with. Please do not be limited to these prayer points. Let the Holy Spirit guide you to pray similar prayers that are specific to your husband.

More Prayer Points like this

I have more prayer points like this in my article on how to pray for lost souls. I suggest that you take more prayer points from there as your intercede for your husband.

Pray for Yourself

This is a very important part of this process. Your life is the most vivid example that your husband has of what the kingdom of God looks like. In 1Pet 3:1 we see that a husband can be won to the Kingdom of God by the behavior of their wives.

So please ask the Lord to help you to reflect the Kingdom of God and the life of Jesus so clearly that your husband would be won to Jesus. You can pray like this.

Sample Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, Please continue to do your work in me. Help me to live like you and love [name of your husband] unconditionally. Let your life in me convict him and attract him to You. Let him taste and see that Your kingdom is great by his interaction with me. Please Lord, let your extraordinary love for [your husband’s name] flow through my eyes, my mouth, my attitude and my behavior. I ask all this in Jesus’ name.

Forgive your Husband

The first action that the Lord would help you to do is to forgive your husband. If you do not forgive, it is hard to have faith in God. (Mark 11:25)

Final Words

I am praying along with you and I am confident that if you follow the guide here, you will see your husband come into the Kingdom of God. I am confident that God who lead you to this article has great plans for your husband. Please do not forget to send me a note when your husband comes home to the Kingdom of our Heavenly Father.

10 Powerful Prayer Points from Matthew 9 that will change you and your family!

In our church family, we have been led to pray in a chain for 30 days in January 2021 round the clock while reading through the book of Matthew. Here are the powerful prayer points that I have extracted from Matthew 9. Use it and add yours to it.

  1. Oh Lord, you know my thoughts! I receive grace to always reject evil thoughts from my heart. Help me dear Lord to focus on You and Your will for me. (Matt 9:4)
  2. Oh Lord, I have faith in you. I place my life at your feet. Please work in me so that I can bring more glory to you. I pray in Jesus’ Name. (Matt 9:1-3).
  3. Dear Lord, shine your light on my life and reveal the sins that limit my effectiveness and fruitfulness. I receive grace today to obey all your instructions in the name of Jesus. (Matt 9:5-7).
  4. Oh Lord please continue to do wonders in my heart and all my life such that people who see me in action will glorify You, my God. (Matt 9:8).
  5. Dear Lord, thank you for calling me. I accept your call to me to follow you and be a fisher of people. Lord help me to recognize the people you are calling like Matthew, people who are ready to follow you. (Matt 9:9-13)
  6. Thank you Heavenly Father for the new covenant! Thank you for cleansing me and making it possible to come to you by the blood of Jesus. Now I can fast so that I can devote my time to you and hear from you. (Matt 9:14-17)
  7. Dear Lord, I believe like this ruler that when you touch anything, it gets fixed, if it is dead it would come back to life. Therefore Lord, whatever good thing that has died in my life, dear Lord Jesus, I present them to You so that they can receive life again.
  8. Every vision, business idea, ministry, relationships, cell, or organs in my body receive new life now in Jesus’ Name! I present my life to you, Lord. Have your way. (Matt 9:16-26)
  9. Lord Jesus, I receive You as my healer. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. You healed every disease and every sickness among the people. I receive healing in my body in your name. My body! Receive healing now in the name of Jesus. As I lay hands and pray for the sick in your name, dear Lord glorify yourself and let them receive healing. (Matt 9: 27-35)
  10. Dear Heavenly Father, you are the Lord of the harvest. Please send out laborers into my neighborhood, my workplace, my city, nation, the unreached people groups all around the world to bring in the harvest of souls. I surrender to you as a laborer. Please, Lord, send me to the harvest today. Lord, please send me those people whom you have prepared for harvest today. Dear Lord, please help me to recognize the people who are ready to be brought into the Kingdom. Help me to preach the good news of the kingdom, to heal the sick, cast out demons, and show your love to the people all around me by brings your solutions to their problems. (Matt 9:37-38).

Do you use a prayer calendar?

I started using a prayer calendar last month and it’s been very powerful! Since last month.

  • It has helped me to pray more specifically for people.
  • It has stirred other believers to pray for members of the body of Christ.
  • It has also helped me to see more clearly that the body of Christ is one.
  • With the prayer calendar, I was inspired to pray specifically for some people that I had not prayed for in a while.
  • I was able to keep in touch with family and friends and pray for them at the same time.

I love praying for people around me and I pray for believers and not-yet-believers. But before now I prayed for them when I remembered and for a smaller group of people regularly. And for these people I prayed as the Holy Spirit led me.

With the prayer calendar, I get to pray for more people and get them involved in the process. I still pray as led by the Holy Spirit but I pray for more people.

What is a prayer calendar?

I didn’t come up with the idea! Here it is in the video below.

So dear one, make your prayer calendar today. Write your list of 30 people or 31.

Try to get them from different church families and cities.

On my list I placed couples on the same day!

Have a blessed time praying for the body of Christ and don’t forget to share your experience with me.

Disciple Making is spiritual warfare!

This is how I think of it. God loves everyone He made. However we all have free will and as you know very well, we all make bad choices.

As a disciple maker or what I refer to as a BiVo Minister, you desire is to see as many of God’s children return to Him in love.

Why are they not willing to return?

There is an enemy! A spiritual enemy! The devil whose goal is to disconnect as many children of God from the love of the Father. (Mark 3:27)

This means that you can’t simply try to reason with people to become disciples of Jesus. First you must stand with them against the lies and tricks of the enemy.

We do this in the place of prayer! As a BiVo Minister, 80% of your work for a person or group of people is prayer. Prayer that is inspired by your love for God and for the people of God. Prayer against the enemy and for the people you are sent to by God.

I believe that the best thing that can happen to any person on earth is to be completely united to God and to be a reflection of His unconditional love. This love is demonstrated to us in Jesus Christ.

So dear BiVO Minister! Spend much time in prayers and don’t be surprised when the enemy tries to stop you with all manner of distractions.

Keep praying, keep loving, and keep inviting people to discover Jesus with you in Discovery Groups.

Pray more for other people than you pray for yourself

I am always interested in seeing people all around me happy and doing well. I believe that if a person is properly connected to God, other aspects of their lives would be well. (Matt 6:33).

That is why I am sharing this tip about effective prayer. If you spend more time praying for other people, you would be operating in love! God is love (1John 4:7-8). You will see miraculous answers to your prayers and your faith would be strengthened.

What should you pray for?

Pray for them as you would want to be prayed for! Ask for things that would last for eternity for them! Pray for things that when they receive would make them useful to you and to the kingdom of God. Don’t forget to mention their names.

Here is an example of how Paul the apostle prayed for the Colossian church. Col 1:9-12

I pray for my neighbors, friends, partners, church, people on my mailing list by name regularly. It’s such a powerful practice and I have testimonies. Many testimonies!

Please share your thoughts in the comments section below. Thanks.

Do you listen to God when you pray?

Prayer is way more than just talking to God! It’s more of hearing from God and responding to God! (Rom 8:26)

When you pray try not to pray only about the things you prepared, listen in your spirit for inspiration from God on what to ask for and on what to do! (John 10:27).

God speaks to us in different ways so look out for His instructions! Many times you will get an idea, a thought or a scripture from deep within your heart! Pray about those topics and continue to let God lead you!

A story about listening to God and obeying Him.

Here is a story I read in a book by a pastor called A. B. Simpson titled “walking in the spirit”. This happened in the early 1900s so bear with the way they spoke then!

It’s the story of a woman who got God’s instructions to go to a train station and get on the train but did not know why! But she knew God! Be inspired!

A saintly spirit whom God has greatly used in personal messages, tells how once she was distinctly sent by the Lord on a certain train; but when she arrived at the station the train was crowded and the guard told her she could not go.

Still she waited, having learned that a point-blank refusal is often the best evidence of God’s working; but just as the train was about to leave, suddenly the guard came to her and hurried her into a carriage which had just been put on.

There she found herself sitting beside a young gentleman, and immediately the thought came, “This is the service the Lord has sent me to do.”

After a little she introduced the subject of personal religion, but he haughtily replied, “My family object to my being talked to on such subjects.” “My dear sir,” she replied, “I had supposed that this was not a question for your family, but for yourself.” “Then,” he answered, still more stiffly, “I object to be talked to on such questions.” It seemed as though the way of service was blocked, and yet the unerring Spirit had led her there.

Then the thought came that she should give him a tract, and that God would bless the silent messenger even after they had parted. But as she searched through all her pockets she found she had forgotten all her tracts. Suddenly, amid her movements, her valise fell on the floor, and all its contents were poured in disorder at their feet.

With the instincts of a gentleman he helped her to pick up the wreck, when suddenly her eye fell upon a single tract that had fallen out with the other articles; but as she picked it up she felt, why, this will never do, for it was a tract especially addressed to a young man that had just been saved from shipwreck. But the same unerring Guide whispered to her to put it in his hands and ask him to read it.

He took it, having grown a little freer, through their better acquaintance, and as he read the title his face became deadly pale.

Before he had read the second page the tears were pouring down his cheeks. “Madam,” he cried, turning to her, “who told you about me?” “Why, no one,” she answered, “what do you mean?” “Why,” said he, “Some one must have told you; did you not know that only last week I was rescued from shipwreck?”

It was the arrow of the Infinite One whose wisdom never fails, and the humble worker, waiting His bidding, had not been suffered to err. The message reached his heart, and ere they parted he was saved.

This is the true secret of effectual service, and when He becomes to us the Wonderful Counselor, we shall always find Him also the Mighty God.

Do you talk to God about your inner life? Your thoughts?

Who is the real you? The one we all see outside or the one only you and God know?

The correct answer I thinks is both!

The external you is a reflection of the internal you. If you work on the internal you, the external you would be transformed automatically!

If you work however on the external you, only more frustration, shame, fear, doubt and confusion results!

This is why it is important to start your prayers by acknowledging the greatness of God and confessing to Him our failures so that we can be forgiven and transformed. 1 John 1:9-10.

When sin and personal ambitions are removed from our hearts, we get answers to our prayers!

Think of it. If you are asking for what God wants, why would He not answer?

But if you are asking for what God wants but you are asking so that you look like a successful minister, what would a loving Heavenly Father do?

So as you seek to be a disciple maker, talk to your Heavenly Father about your inner thoughts and ambitions. Remember the people that have offended you! Do not waste time praying for other things without genuinely desiring to stop all known sins and personal ambitions.

Spend as much time as you need asking the Lord to take over the seat of your life and thoughts.

You will get more results from prayer when your heart is truly seeking the Glory of God.

Recently I found myself seeking for more people to attend a meeting but then I could also sense a subtle but real desire for me not to be a failure behind that desire.

It doesn’t matter if you are seen as a failure or not. What must be topmost in your heart is that the will of God (salvation) be done!

As you pray this week. Let the Holy Spirit show you your heart and your motives. Then ask God for grace! Receive grace to let go of those thoughts and choose to live only for the glory of God.

Talk to God about your inner life!
